Tried microsoft fixit...windows update engines....finally stumbled across this site while searching the internet. Good news: Microsoft offers free technical support for Windows Update and that support provided a solution to my problem. then, reboot the computer.. Arun's little trick has very noticeably speeded up my Windows Explorer opening and other tasks on my computer. While still in safe mode I turned on the automatic updates and rebooted into normal mode. Download and run http://download.windowsupdate.com/WindowsUpdate/redist/standalone/7.4.7600.226/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe I had to reboot one machine to get it to work but the rest worked without. i thought about this
I went ahead and did Custom and let it run. Microsoft's first suggestion was to download version 3 of the Windows Update "Agent" (file WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe) to the root of the C disk, then run it with Start -> Run and the How fast is Time running in Majora's Mask? In my case, this debugging information proved critical.
