I must say I am surprised by the pseudo-surround effect of the speakers. It was just my headphones were screwed up, but that probably isn't the case for everyone. I have no sound problem from Wii U gamepad, when using my headphones. You could take it back to where you bought it within 30 days of purchase most likely, or you could send it in to Nintendo. check over here
Thanks to one of our community members, we have a very thorough owner's guide video that may do the trick! Huh, weird, maybe I should borrow/try a few other pairs of headphones. It could be that I might not be trying to put them in enough but I dont' want to risk breaking anything, so any info/suggestions would be appreciated. This. Beats, Skullcandy and any Apple earphones are a total rip-off and not worth the quality of sound you get. Moving to another room and then sound is audible but not worth it. What is up with that? Wii U Headphone Jack Size

Fix: Make sure the software you are using supports the microphone you are using. Wii U Gamepad No Sound I play with headphones plugged in the GamePad and the volume slider about halfway up.
