I had that same problem and it worked for me. It won't even turn on my Wii when I press the power button. I went through and turned off the wii, unplugged it, and even moved the sensor to a position that seemed more correct. Thanks!

If another Wii Remote works, there is likely a problem with the original Wii Remote only. If that doesn't work then you either need a new wii-mote or there is a problem with your console.
