The defect is not widespread and should not dissuade you from upgrading to iOS 6.1.3. That said, I don't think the phone is broken (too many people are having the exact same problem), at least the hardware, such as it is in the 4s. Continuing to use the phone in its current state wasn't really an option, so I made an appointment at the Genius Bar and headed out to the Apple Store. Cancel billy Rep: 1 Posted: 11/18/2013 Options Permalink History What I assume is that your main frame needs replacement as when in crowded fm zone the frame does not perform as But the sticking point remained: the phone was out of warranty and this was apparently now a hardware issue that could only be fixed by replacing the hardware. At this point the phone displayed a message saying "phone too hot for use, allow to cool down". (I thought at this point I'd wrecked the phone!). https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5067370?start=0&tstart=0 Reply BY Joe | April 1, 2014 at 12:49 am|0 | 0 We were just outside our 1 year warranty but Apple gave us 2 new ones anyway - this happened
Wifi worked for a while but could not search for networks and now the wifi has grayed out again. I was already skeptical about THE BIG APPLE product….. Cheers! http://nadrp.com/wifi-not/wifi-not-working-on-iphone-3gs-4-3-3.html At least, we may conclude that this is a software issue in my case, rather than hardware. By just putting it in the freezer the wifi and bluetooth would temporarily work for around 10 min i tried this twice producing the same effect. I am unsure how much the order and exact steps I took matter in this situation, but I figured I would post exactly what worked for me.
Put your phone on a table, upper side towards you. Called Applecare-iphone rep. Can we somehow make sure this issue and these comments get wide exposure and are forwarded to the right people so a satisfactory solution can he worked out for everybody? check over here NOT a lot.
There's a 16-page (and growing) forum post on Apple's website and an Apple help page for correcting the issue, along with a smattering of similar complaints popping up on other sites. I did it as follows: 1. Contacted Extended warranty on iphone-problem with iphone.
cose it works for me I hope that helps even if to recieve some hopefull email. Wifi greyed out on 4S on update to 7.1.1, heat with hairdryer and then 10 mins in freezer, do a restore and BINGO. If you think about it, when your iPhone is downloading the upgrade, it's using the WiFi module intensively for a long time. Thank you Thank you Thank you Reply BY PF | August 12, 2014 at 7:00 am|0 | 0 I just tried the hair dryer method and it worked.
My research finds very few people affected by this issue. Due an upgrade on my phone soon, don't think I will be staying with apple they have really let themselves down and don't deserve any of our money and custom with I reset the network setting, wifi is now alive an working well. this content You have to click 'restore iphone' and when it restarts 'set up as new' and test it out.
