Just hope that if enough people complain WD might get off their arses and fix instead of leaving up to users to find solutions. Also, make sure to have any devices (such as USB drives) disconnected from the WD TV or WD Elements Play prior to resetting the device. On a WD TV Live Streaming, WD TV Live Hub and WD TV Play, it is on the bottom of the unit, right next to front or side USB port. I always used a hdmi cable with my wd tv live to connect it to my old toshiba 22" lcd tv and it worked fine.

Did you find any solution? I returned first equipment and got a newer one (used my warranty). Had exactly the same problem and went to technical service and the diagnostic was "problem with HDMI output, so it I'm asking this because I read a lot about cut the rubber of hdmi cable and agparekh said it worked for him...

Here's a photo of what i did. The left hand plug is the uncut end that plugs into my TV and the right one plugs into the WDTV. These settings can be from the video display being used, to changing the network configurations back to DHCP on a network capable WD TV. Just cut the cable 2mm, exactly as shown above. Why? So ensuring you're on a HDMI input that is connected to the WD BEFORE turning on the WD is the key. Recently I bought a AV Receiver and thought this might act as a repeater for HDMI and could fix my issue, but the same problem here.
